FAQ

Q: What’s the difference between the Starter Kit and the Expansion Kit?

A: The Starter Kit is a complete watering system for one raised bed. It includes everything you need to start watering, including the hose connection components. The Expansion Kit is an add-on for additional beds. It connects to your Starter Kit and includes everything needed to irrigate one additional bed.

Q: Do I need the Starter Kit to use the Expansion Kit?

A: Yes. The Expansion Kit is designed to connect to the Starter Kit and does not include the hose connector.

Q: Can I use the starter kit on its own?

A: Yes! The starter kit is created to be a complete, stand-alone kit with everything you need to start hands-free watering a single raised garden bed.

Q: How many kits do I need for my garden?

A: Start with one Starter Kit for your first bed. Then add one Extension Kit per additional bed. For example, if you have 4 beds, you will need 1 Starter Kit and 3 Extension Kits. You can use our Epic Garden Watering System Calculator to determine the number of kits needed for your garden.

Q: Will this work for my raised bed size?

A: The watering system is designed specifically for raised beds and adjusts to fit beds between 2-4 feet wide and up to 10 feet long. The customizable manifold and drip tape make it easy to fit your setup.

Q: How long does installation take?

A: Most gardeners go from unboxing to watering in 30 minutes. This is a same-day project, not a weekend long commitment.

Q: What if I’ve never installed irrigation before?

A: This system is designed to be beginner-friendly. We’ve removed the common failure points, used quick connect fittings throughout, and made assembly fast and easy. No technical knowledge or professional required.

Q: How do I know if my plants will be watered evenly?

A: The system is engineered for uniform water distribution, so every plant in your bed gets consistent moisture and you don’t have to worry about dry spots or overwatering.

Q: How long will this system last?

A: This is not a one-season kit. It’s built to last years with 15-mil drip tape that resists UV, foot traffic, and is built for long-term outdoor use.

Q: What is the U-shaped connector for?

A: It routes water cleanly over the edge of your raised bed without kinking. No bending tubing or improvising connections.

Q: Can I expand the system later?

A: Yes. The system is fully modular. You can add Extension Kits or connect additional components as your garden grows.

Q: Will it connect to a standard garden hose?

A: Yes. The system uses a standard 3/4" garden hose (GHT) connection.

Q: Will this save water?

A: Yes. Drip irrigation delivers water directly to the roots, using up to 50% less water than traditional sprinklers.

Epic Garden Watering System: Starter Kit
    Great System

After researching several drip irrigation kits, I ultimately chose this system because it appeared sturdy, easy to expand across a multi-bed garden, and aesthetically pleasing.

I currently have ten 4' x 8' cedar raised beds, so we needed to make a few modifications to fit the system to our setup. Fortunately, the kits included enough components to allow for customization and adapting them to our beds was relatively straightforward. We did need to make a few cuts to the cedar beds to accommodate the system, but the process was manageable.

The biggest reason I purchased this system was to save time. Hand-watering ten raised beds every day was becoming a significant commitment, and I love that I can now simply set the system and let it take care of the watering. It has made maintaining my garden much more convenient.

Installation was fairly simple, though it took longer than the estimated 30 minutes per bed. I imagine the actual time depends on the size and type of garden beds you have.

Before installation, I contacted customer service with a couple of questions about replacement parts and winterizing the system, since I live in USDA Zone 7a. I was informed that replacement parts are not currently available for purchase and that the system should be lifted and stored to prevent damage from freezing temperatures and ice. Since I have buried the main supply lines beneath decorative stone, I do not plan to remove those. However, I do intend to remove the bed attachments, manifolds,…

    Hey Del,

We're so happy to hear about your incredible experience with the Epic Garden Watering System Starter Kit! It's awesome that you did your research and chose our system for its sturdiness, expandability, and aesthetics - and even more awesome that it's delivered on all those promises across your ten 4' x 8' cedar beds! We totally get that hand-watering that many beds was becoming a huge time commitment, and there's nothing better than a system that lets you just set it and forget it while still giving your plants the perfect care they need! It's so cool that the kit had enough components for you to customize it to your specific setup, and we love that you found the installation straightforward even though it took a bit longer than estimated (every garden setup is unique, so that totally makes sense)! Your approach to winterization in Zone 7a sounds really smart - keeping those buried main lines in place while protecting the more exposed components is exactly the kind of thoughtful garden management that makes all the difference! Thanks for sharing your Epic Garden Watering System success and for being such a thorough and dedicated grower! Keep on growing 🌻️

Epic Garden Watering System: Expansion Kit
    Upgraded Drip System

As promised the set up is simple with clear instructions. I ordered the Epic Garden Watering System: Expansion Kit because I already had a drip plumbing installed by my landscaper. Unfortunately because of my set up, I did need to make that extra run to the hardware store to get an adapter to fit the system since I was not running it from my hose bib. I love the manifold and drip tape and hope to see them sell those pieces separately in the future. I did use more pieces from the kit then I initially anticipated because I was trying to get it angled perfectly but I could have gotten away without them since my plumbing started inside my bed. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and can't wait to see how well it helps my garden!

Epic Garden Watering System: Starter Kit
Solid but has some room for improvement

I finally decided to invest in an irrigation system after the romance of hand watering has worn off. So far I’ve very happy with the overall performance and ease of usability of the system, but there are some quirks and annoyances worth mentioning.

First up, don’t plan for a 30 minute install. Now I always take these kinds of claims with a grain of salt anyway. This is just marketing 101 and sure in a vacuum you could theoretically install it in 30 minutes but we live in reality. The starter kit setup and one bed took me about 2 hours, a second bed another 1 hour.

During the installation I found a lot of my time was spent trying to keep the waterline from kinking. The tube itself is a stiff plastic, so making it go around corners and over obstacles requires some patience. Otherwise you may have to go back and check everything when you have restricted or low water flow when you test it.

The kits themselves have a ton of parts, most of them have extras, and the tubing and water lines are more than enough. I have 10s of feet left over in the end, along with a bunch of fittings and parts. Almost enough to do my third bed. This left me wishing I could buy individual pieces like the L and T fittings separately and not have to spend another $99 on another expansion kit only to have even more stuff left unused.

    Hey AB,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such detailed feedback about the Epic Garden Watering System! We really appreciate your honest insights about the installation process and the tubing challenges. Your point about the 30-minute install claim is well taken - real-world setups definitely have their unique obstacles. It's great to hear that despite the initial setup time, you're happy with the overall performance and ease of use. We're always looking at ways to improve our products and your feedback about offering individual fittings is super valuable to us. Thanks again for sharing your experience and keep on growing 🌻️

Epic Garden Watering System: Expansion Kit
    Be prepared

Right before your kits were advertised, we hired a guy to install the water line from the house out to the yard and into about 10 variously shaped beds. I didn’t like the way he did the 4x8 bed and I still had a couple round beds to deal with, so I bought a couple of your expansion kits, thinking I could use yours in the 4x8 and then his left over parts for the round beds. Installation in the 4x8 was easy enough (but I agree with one reviewer in that the end clips broke [actually blew off because the sides snapped] but nothing some zip ties couldn’t quickly and inexpensively fix], and yes I had to go to the hardware store because I didn’t find the drip tape would work for the round beds. But all in all I found everything I needed either in the kit or a part that would work with your parts at the store. So while I can’t buy pieces parts from you, it does seem that there is an easy enough fix. It’s an excellent kit if your beds are all similarly situated, but with my yard all my beds are different sizes and heights. I’m just happy to have received enough instruction and parts to get it all handled saving me hours of watering a day [it was 107 degrees today]. With the exception of the end clips, everything works and looks great…and I now know just enough to be dangerous.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts in a review. We're thrilled to hear that the expansion kit worked well for your 4x8 bed and that you were able to get your whole yard watering system set up and running. We really appreciate you sharing the details about what worked and what didn't, especially regarding the end clips and how you were able to work around it. It sounds like you've got a great setup now that's saving you a ton of time out there in that heat. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we're committed to ensuring your experience is positive. Need just parts

As other have mentioned, they may have extra pieces and parts left over from an install. It all depends on the garden design. While I really like the idea of a kit, I would really like to be able to order individual pieces and parts for my specific needs. Also, consider having a multi zone water timer option.
